Project name:
NNPC Buildings, Abuja – Nigeria
Client:
NNPC Buildings
Objectives:
NNPC Towers is a monumental structure consisting of four towers located on Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District and is the corporate headquarters of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Each of the towers is 246 ft high and were built in 1996. As Nigeria is an oil producing country, this is one of the most important complex of buildings in Nigeria and has been named as one of the best designed.
Solution:
With the buildings containing an enormous amount of glass and with glass connecting walkways, NNPC wanted to ensure that all staff and visitors were protected against the risk of glass breakage whether accidental or intentional and were also protected if an explosion or bomb blast attack were to happen.
Result:
We treated glazing of all four towers and connecting walkways with our 8mil high tensile strength clear security film and various edge-retention anchoring solutions to ensure if an explosion or blast were to happen, then the film and edge-retention anchoring systems would provide a high level of protection and ultimately prevent the explosion overpressure from entering the building causing further destruction and ultimately loss of business continuity.
